The Norwood Basketball Association is excited to announce tryouts for its 2020-21 travel season.

Metrowest Basketball has announced a shortened season to begin after Jan. 1 and the NBA is planning to participate with boys and girls teams in grades 4-8.

The number of teams at each level will depend on tryout attendance and interest and there is no guarantee of two teams at each level for each gender.

Please read through these important details before registering for travel basketball. Registration links are at the bottom of the page. Please review our COVID guidelines as well. In order to register for tryouts and participate, you will need to sign a waiver regarding COVID-19.

This year we will have a travel tryout fee of $35 for two sessions, Sundays Dec. 6 and Dec. 13. This tryout fee is not refundable once the first tryout takes place.

All travel fees are TBD. Right now we are aiming to charge $250 per player, but final fees will be announced at the end of tryouts. Players will not pay until teams are formed. Those participants selected for teams will receive payment instructions. Please note our expenses are greater this year because of the uncertainty surrounding our gyms rentals and our inability to fundraise.

Participation in NBA travel during the COVID-19 pandemic is a risk. Parents and guardians of NBA players as well as NBA coaches take sole responsibility for their risk.

State, NBA, or Metrowest guidelines could change without notice. The season could end at any time due to state guidelines or based on the discretion of the NBA Board of Directors. Please review the refund policy below.

Questions can be directed to the NBA at [email protected].

Travel Basketball

COVID-19 policies and procedures will be in place. Mask wearing is a requirement for all participants (including while playing) and spectators (if allowed).

· The Metrowest regular season has been reduced from 12 games to 8 games

· All 8 games will be at neutral sites – the NBA does not have access to the school gyms for games

· Practice time will be limited and not guaranteed. No one other than coaches and players will be allowed in the gym for tryouts and practices.

· Spectators for games will vary from facility to facility and possibly even week to week.  No facility is allowed to exceed 50% of its stated capacity and some have more stringent rules – the NBA has no control over this.

· The NBA is likely to limit the team size to no more than 10 players per team.

· At this point there are no plans for alternative NBA programs to travel for players in grades 5-8.

· Tryout information:

o It is important for players to make at least one of the two tryouts.

o If there are circumstances that prevent tryout attendance, the tryout fee must be paid to be considered. Travel team placement decisions could be based on previous year’s play and coaches/coordinators feedback.

o If a player is not feeling well please do NOT come to the tryouts (see following Health Check information)

o Tryouts will be held Sundays Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 at the Civic Center. Tryout times will be announced by Friday, Dec. 4.
